Here are vinyl record editions of the first five METALLICA studio efforts! They are used and (slightly) abused but still very nice collectibles. Of course, the vinyl records themselves are in good shape! This is all the METALLICA you really need anyway. These are original records that came out the year each release came out. They are NOT re-releases. I will post more specific information SOON. So, if you aren't sure, don't bid until I post specifics. Because there is wear on some jackets, this amazing lot starts at a low price. SOLD AS-IS. These were from my brother's collection. Mine are mint. THESE ARE NOT Stay tuned for more information!! METALLICA "Kill 'Em All" 1983 Megaforce Records: The record needs a cleaning but has NO major scratches or defects. Actually, it looks pretty damn good! The insert sleeve (paper) faces look fair but the edges are torn where the record hits. The new owner may wish to tape the edges of the insert but I'm leaving it as-is. It's a personal decision whether or not to apply tape and, if so, what kind of tape. It's best to let the new owner handle that decision. You can see the jacket is worn (more on the back) and the outline of the record can be seen on both sides. I'll label the jacket and insert condition as "fair" for a 1983 record but the record itself is "very good" or even "excellent" ONCE CLEANED. This is my personal rating system. Haha. It's not what I do on a regular basis so feel free to ask additional questions, if necessary. Here's the record:

METALLICA "Ride The Lightning" 1984 Elektra: This would be considered METALLICA's heaviest record by many and I tend to agree. I think the debut ("Kill 'Em All") is my personal favorite but "Ride The Lightning" has the heaviest "wall of sound" quality to it. Not surprising, of my brother's METALLICA records, this one has suffered the most use! The jacket is worn (as you can see above) but still has some life left. There is a "blow-out" on the left side where the record has put a hole in the jacket. THIS ONE IS STAMPED AS A PROMO. Note the gold lettering on the back, upper center area. Some would consider that a promo stamp makes the record an even better collectible. Others have no use for it and it's a negative. Just understand it's there! You decide for yourself. The paper insert is torn on all sides. It's one small piece away from just being two sheets of paper not even connected! The lyrics and pictures are fine...the tears are only on each edge, where the record has pushed through. Taping will be required...see "Kill 'Em All" comments above. The record itself looks GREAT. Once again, it needs a thorough cleaning but is virtually scratch and defect free. I'd say it's a solid "very good"! I notice two scratches that go with the grain on "Fight Fire With Fire". I tried to show one below. The jacket and insert are the main problems here. The record looks pretty damn nice.

Regarding "Ride The Lightning"...I rate the vinyl record itself "very good" after a cleaning. The jacket and insert would be rated "poor". The insert needs repair.

METALLICA "Master Of Puppets" 1986 Elektra: This was the last record with bassist Cliff Burton before he died in a tour bus accident. Cliff was a good bassist and had a classic METAL attitude. The picture inside "Master Of Puppets" says it all. Once again, the record needs a good cleaning but it has no defects or scratches. I rate it very good. The paper insert is starting to tear on all three closed edges but it is in better shape (much better shape) than the insert for "Ride The Lightning". You get some pictures and lyrics. The "Master Of Puppets" insert is fairly clean too. The jacket is in good shape. It does show wear from being in stacks of records over the years but it's in better condition than the two records mentioned above. Overall, this is a very nice record! I was into METALLICA since the first album when they were still underground. In fact, they were still underground during "Ride The Lightning". "Master Of Puppets" was when they hit the big time. In addition to the original fans like me, many people crossed over from the heavy metal scene to support METALLICA. All-of-a-sudden, in addition to all the underground metal shirts at shows, you started seeing tons of IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, etc.. This was an era when traditional heavy metal was getting more commercial and lame and all of the glam bands appeared. Naturally, heavy metal fans needed more satisfaction than Poison or Whitesnake. They found it in the thrash genre which was in full force in 1986. That's why "Master Of Puppets" was so freakin' huge at the time. Old fans AND new fans both liked it.

METALLICA "The $5.98 E.P. Garage Days Re-Revisited" 1987 Elektra: This EP and it's packaging is in very good condition all around. I actually never got around to buying the CD so I just digitized this EP and it sounded excellent. No, it's not new. It is a nice product though. I'm not big on cover songs and METALLICA has done way too many...but...these are some of their better ones for sure. It's a must-have just because it's in the "classic era" of METALLICA which I personally think is everything in this auction and then throw in the "black album". I don't really need anything else. "Death Magnetic" is pretty cool though. I like the fact that "St. Anger" pisses everybody off because of the underground sound. Hehe. Other than that, I'm good. You can keep "the Load albums", "Lulu", additional cover songs, etc.. I have no use for that stuff. Everybody's different but that's my view of the METALLICA catalog!

METALLICA "...And Justice For All" 1988 Elektra: Like the EP above, this copy of "...And Justice For All" is in very good condition all around. This is such a unique album and it inspired a slew of  very similar releases in the following years. One decent example of "...And Justice For All worship" is HEATHEN's "Victims Of Deception".  It's not a clone but the influence is obvious to any seasoned metal fan. "...Amd Justice For All" is long enough to require TWO vinyl records in a standard sleeve. So, in this auction, you really get SIX records of METALLICA's ultimate stuff. "...And Justice For All" was a ground-breaking release for it's time.
