5 Sports Car Sound Effects Records
Here are five great vintage records, which are basically recordings of Grand Prix races and race cars. The sounds are incredible, and there is also commentary on some of the records. In this lot you get:
Sounds of Sebring 1959, Riverside RLP 1146. This album features plenty of race car sounds, in addition to interviews with a dozen drivers on the conditions at Sebring that year (a massive rainout). Cover is in good condition with splits on the top and spine. Vinyl is very good and plays very well.
Sports Cars at Sebring in Stereo, Riverside RLP 1144. This is just the sounds of the cars at the 1959 Sebring race. And boy do I wish I could go back and watch that race in person; those cars sounded good. The cover on this record is fair, with the entire top spit, and a large split on the spine. Vinyl is good, with noticeable scuffing. There's quite a bit of snap, crackle and pop during play, and a couple of skips, but it's not overbearing (at least to me) and there's no major distortion.
Sounds of Sebring 1961, Riverside RLP 5023. This record has racing sounds and commentary from the Sebring 1961 race. Cover condition is good with a split on the top, wear to the spine and a name in ink on the back. Vinyl is very good, with some visible wear. It plays well with minor surface noise.
Vintage Sports Cars in Hi-Fi, Riverside RLP 5013. This record features the sounds of great vintage sports cars like the V16 Maserati, Frazer-Nash, and type 51 Bugatti, among others. There's commentary by David Scott-Moncrieff, who sounds like Eric Idle's impersonation of a stuffy British commentator. Classic. Cover is very good with average wear but no splits. The vinyl shows scuffing, and plays well with minor surface noise.
Sports Cars in Stereo, Riverside RLP 1101. This features mostly the sounds from Sebring 1958, during technical inspection, slow cornering, the "esses" section, and the straightaway. The cover is good with a split on the spine. Vinyl shows some scuffing but plays very well with only minor surface noise.
So there you have it. If you like listening to the fire-breathing sounds of vintage European and British race cars, these records may be the answer. Personally I think they're great. But, I can't keep everything, where would I put it?
