Description
Here's are FIVE (5) 16" WORLD PROGRAM SERVICE CHRISTMAS-THEMED TRANSCRIPTION DISCS, each containing a COMPLETE RADIO DRAMA FEATURING A HOLLYWOOD STAR. The discs are not dated but I believe they are from the late 1940s. Three are on red vinyl. This series was sold to individual radio stations as part of a station library package. The local announcer would add introductory comments or commercials at designated times; each disc was intended to provide a half-hour of entertainment including the local spots.
"HIS WONDERS TO PERFORM" stars DOROTHY LAMOUR as a singer who has to choose between family and career.
"CHRISTMAS LANE" stars PAT O'BRIEN as a cop who saves a young man from a life of crime. There is some skip and groove damage in the last few minutes. There is no introduction for the show (local announcer).
"CHRISTMAS FOR EVE" stars LORRAINE DAY as a woman scarred in childhood by a Christmas fire who finds new hope in the holiday season. The open and close were to be provided by the local announcer.
"CHRISTMAS, WITH LOVE" stars character actor JAMES GLEASON as a ranch foreman in the story of a young boy whose parents reunite and learn the true meaning of the holiday season.
"THESE THE HUMBLE" stars JOE E. BROWN as a nightclub performer who is down on his luck at Christmas. The record has surface wear.
See photos for a closer look at the discs. All have been stored in sleeves; sound is good except where previously noted.
