Description
Lot of 52 45 RPM Rock and Easy Listening Vinyl Singles from the 1960s, 70s, 80s
Back Story: When streaming music replaced MP3s replaced CDs replaced cassettes replaced 8-tracks replaced vinyl, I foresaw that one day, vinyl would make a comeback. It certainly has, and I proudly offer for sale my collection of singles that I personally purchased from record stores long ago.Back then, these vinyl singles were referred to as "45s", but if you're considering buying these, then you already know that.
I purchased all of these 45s in the mid-1980s, and played each one no more than twice; once to ensure no imperfections, then a second time to record onto cassette tape. Back then I had a high quality turntable and stylus, a very high quality cassette recorder, and of course a receiver/amplifier in-between
I was making multiple-artist-compilations for myself long before iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, etc.
More than a few audiophiles purchased their music on open reel magnetic tape, which was also available back in the day!
Included: The following 45s along with the pictured soft brown vinyl carrying case: Artist Song (s) Air Supply Lost in Love America You Can Do Magic The Archies Sugar Sugar Badfinger Come and Get It Badfinger No Matter What Beach Boys Kokomo The Bellamy Brothers Let Your Love Flow The Belle Stars Iko Iko Jimmy Buffett Come Monday Glen Campbell Rhinestone Cowboy The Carpenters Please Mr. Postman Club Nouveau Lean on Me Burton Cummings Stand Tall Dr. Hook Only 16 Jonathan Edwards Sunshine Five Stairsteps Ooh Child Barry Gibb Shine Shine Al Green Let's Stay Together Vince Guaraldi Cast Your Fate to the Wind Albert Hammond It Never Rains in Southern California Bruce Hornsby The Way It Is Elton John Sad Songs Say So Much Elton John Friends Julian Lennon Valotte & Say You're Wrong Scott McKenzie If You're Going to San Francisco Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes The Love I Lost Frank Mills Music Box Dancer The Monkees A Little Bit Me, A Little Bit You The Monkees I'm a Believer Moody Blues Your Wildest Dreams Van Morrison Brown Eyed Girl Anne Murray Snowbird Ricky Nelson Garden Party Juice Newton Queen of Hearts Danny O'Keefe Good Time Charlie's Got the Blues Peter, Paul & Mary Leaving on a Jet Plane & Day is Done Peter, Paul & Mary If I Had a Hammer & Lemon Tree Elvis Presley Suspicious Minds The Pretenders Bank on the Chain Gang Neil Sedaka Breaking Up Is Hard To Do Small Faces Itchycoo Park Ringo Starr Photograph B.W. They were only played twice, as described above. Their paper sleeves are all present. A few have folded corners, but in general, all sleeves are in good to excellent condition. The carrying case is in very good condition. History Lesson: Long, long ago, when you wanted to purchase just the most popular songs by your favorite artist, you would have to go to a record store and look through the singles rack and buy the ones that you wanted. You would then bring them home to play on your record player, which was also called a record changer or turntable. These were either stand-alone units with built-in speaker(s), or if you had the means, it was connected to a hi-fi.
If you wanted to listen to your music in your car, then you had to connect a cassette deck to your hi-fi. No ordinary cassette deck mind you, but one that recorded . . . in stereo!
Well, that's what I did throughout my first year of college. I would buy 45s, record them onto cassettes, and then carefully store the 45s so I could sell them on eBay 35 years later.
During my second year of college, one day I went to a record store, and saw a new contraption. It was a CD player. It cost over $1000, but the sound quality was phenomenal. I will never forget - - - "Funky Town" was the first song I ever heard being played from a CD.
Please note: Sold as a single lot only. Items will not be sold individually, separately, in groups, pairs, etc. Oh yeah, make sure to get a 45 RPM metal single adapter. The thin plastic ones are easily breakable. If you are unsure what these look like, then Google: 45 rpm metal single adapter, and click on 'Images'.Terms of Auction Sale
