david bowie - his 2nd lp on uk philips, the original pressing. i think there are a few variants on the first press inthe credits so pls check the photos or ask any questions, its the stamped matrix genuine black philips label original edition, and alas has three scratches that click, it was bought new in 1970 by the lady i bought it from. thankfully space oddity plays without problem, the 3 scratches are single clean scratches that do cause light repeat clicks most noticeable on the quiet sections of the second track. if not for those 3 lines this would be ex. and the cover is also quite nice withjust minimal edge wear and a bit of the now ubiquitous rubbing found on these 50 year old unlaminated gatefolds. the onlyhope is that repeat plays can lessenthe burrs on the edges of scratches lessening any clicking over time, so with repeat plays it may get better! thatsprobably why a lot of visually blitzed sixties uk lp like beatles and kinks sound so good, theyjust got played over and over, and the needle eventually removes the burred edge of the scratches. or maybe technology will invent a cure for scratches.
anyways, this is a chance to get this now mega rare lp at a reasonable price, some have tipped £1000 on ebay since bowies death, and what is for me bowies most important song, the supreme masterpiece Space Oddity, plays through great. its one of the very first songs i became aware of as an infant, before i could properly speak, upon its early rerelease. i remember becoming aware of it being played every day on the household radio, together with Hit the Road Jack by ray charles and perry comos And I Love You So , which oddly has a similar melancholic vibe, and i associated with its sense of alienation. Kids from  early seventies england may recall its one of the most nihilistic periods of uk history, i remember bowie on top of the pops or something with a weird video, or maybe pans people live, performing to this song, and drifting away in a tin can style spaceship into existential loneliness. and at four or five, i really associated with it.
anyway, masterpiece, rare as f*ck, and original, but three scratches
grading is - cover / disc
vg++++/ would be vg+++ but three scratches cause clicks on three tracks, so pls bid accordingly.  a strong ex  may top £1000, so perhaps this is worth £150-£300?

all are 1st pressings, original uk editions.
all lps are placed in period/vintage plain paper inner sleeves. any generic polylined inner sleeves have been discarded as they are unsafe and damage lps, as per the policy of many serious collectors.  old pvc lined inners are ageing, chemically unstable,  and sticking to lps, paper inners are the only currently known way to avoid it. vertigo inners are retained and sent outside the covers to avoid damaging contact.
most photos show the fronts, backs, spine and labels so cover condition is fully visible in the photos.
lps listed include sam apple pie, hungry wolf, gerry lockran, mike westbrook love songs, shape of the rain, cressida, idle race, five day week straw people, dransfield, fuschia, rockin horse, gentle giant, and the now very rare aubrey small lp with insert.
grading is mainly visual, all the lps have been fully or partly tested mainly on the run in and first tracks, and any visible defects have been played through to see if theres any audible results.
tested on lenco/cyrus/tannoy 60s/70s equipment.
