Description
This is a 2-LP "Radio Acetate" set (or perhaps known as "Transcription Discs).
Discs are 12 inch in size, and play at 78 RPM.
The acetates feature an episode of a radio show entitled "Upon Reflection" hosted/narrated by Wilford J. Kramer.
The acetate features primarily Wilford J Cramer's spoken word narration, along with a short bit of organ music at the beginning.
This episode of "Upon Reflection" tells the story of the "Bressmer Fire".
Info from Google: "The Bressmer Fire was caused by a lightning bolt that destroyed the John Bressmer Co. department store in downtown Springfield IL. early on May 2, 1948."
Sides 1, 2, and 3 run about 5 minutes playing time each. Side 4 is slightly shorter.
The acetates were manufactured by "AFM Recording Studios" in Springfield IL.
Both discs are in excellent overall condition, especially considering their age. Side 4 has a few light surface scuffs.
Sides 1, 2 and 3 each have a audible "pop" at the beginning of the LP side, but play very well otherwise with only the slightest bit of surface noice. The narrator's voice sound and clear, and free from groove distortion. Side 4 has one skip that happens in the first 20 seconds or so.
Each disc is housed in its original plain manila sleeve. Each sleeve has some moderate tearing near the top lip. The letters "O.L.P" are written in pen on each sleeve.
A truly rare, possibly one-of-a-kind radio program - I am not sure if it was achived any other way. Who knows, this could be the only copy of this rare radio show. I am only guessing, of course.
If you have any questions, let me know. Thanks!
