This is a unique lot of two LPs that document the United States' early ventures into the areas of rocketry, missiles, and space travel. Details are as follows:
1) ROCKETS MISSILES AND SPACE Travel - VOX Records VS-3 - 1958 - Gatefold cover, laminated front cover - Written and directed by early space travel and rocketry pioneer Willy Ley, with interviews with and the actual voices of rocketry pioneers B.A. Schreiver, Dr. Wernher Von Braun, Kraft Thrice, Col. John Stapp, Major Gen. D.N. Yates, and others, along with actual count-downs and firings of a number of early rockets and missiles.

2) AMERICA'S MEN IN SPACE - THE STORY OF PROJECT MERCURY - CMS / VOX Records CMS 71000 - 1964 - Produced by Ward Botsford, narrated by John H. 'Shorty' Powers and Fred Hanney of Mercury Control NASA, liner notes by Willy Ley - This LP documents the first U.S. efforts at sub-orbital and orbital flight in Project Mercury, which spanned the years 1958 through 1963, and which paved the way for the more ambitions Projects Gemini and Apollo, which culminated with the first moon landings. The album contains actual countdowns, launches, and communications between Mission Control and the Project Mercury astronauts.
Visual condition of the 'Rockets, Missiles And Space Travel' record is a real nice NM- with one tiny visible surface mark which cannot be felt and does not affect play. Condition of the 'America's Men In Space' record is a high VG+ with a few small and light surface and sleeve marks, none of which can e felt or will affect play. Condition of both covers is VG+ with a 1-1/2" split in the middle of the top edge of the back gatefold of the 'Rockets, Missiles And Space Travel' cover, a 1" split and some flaking in the bottom of the spine and a 1" split in the right side of the bottom edge of the ''America's Men In Space' cover, and with both covers having some wear along the edges and on the corners, and a little ring and contact wear. Covers have no water damage, tears, writing, or stickers. This unique lot would be a choice addition to any U.S. space program memorabilia collection! Media mail postage within the U.S. is $4.00.
