2 10" 78 Negative Metal Record Pressing Master Father Plates Etched HRS-1059 A&B

PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE BEFORE FINALIZING PAYMENT, ESPECIALLY IF PUCHASING MULTIPLE RECORDS OR INSURANCE.

Up for bid is two vintage metal master negative image pressing plates, called "Father Plates", which were used to press positive image "Mother" plates.  THESE ARE ONE-OF-A-KIND!

The plates are (reverse) etched, HRS 1059-A on one, HRS 1059-B on the other.  There's no date on the records or sleeves, although written on one sleeve is "scratched," and I do see a small scratch at the Noon position on A, near the lead-in.  The matrix numbers are also written on the sleeves, which are taped together.

There's no way to know who is on these masters, or when they were made.  The Historic Record Society only released opera excerpts.  There's no HRS discography.

These would make wonderful music room decorations, or items for steam-punk sculpture.

These are copper plates with a silver or (less probably) nickel plating.  The copper has tarnished some on the reverse, but the plating is bright and shiny; both have some light scuffs, probably from long storage.  Each weighs about 12.5 ounces.  The sleeves are very heavy-duty, and the bottoms have begun to split.

BEWARE:  THESE ARE UNPLAYABLE ON ANY REGULAR PHONOGRAPH.

Note:  Domestic shipping will be USPS Parcel Select.  I'm not sure if these items would be accepted for Media Mail, so I'm not taking any chances.

PLEASE READ OUR POLICIES

• DO NOT FINALIZE PAYMENT BEFORE RECEIVING AN INVOICE!  This will save you money, especially if you're buying more than one item (combined shipping).  Insurance or signature confirmation are paid by the buyer at their request, and cannot be added after payment is finalized.
• We give multi-item buyers two weeks shop, dated from the first purchase, then payment is expected, unless the buyer requests more time; three weeks at the maximum, please.
• We pack items very carefully using new materials (check our feedback), so there is a $2.25 handling fee for domestic shipping.  This fee may increase, depending on the size of your order, or if noted in the description.
• We purchase our shipping labels from eBay, which automatically sends shipping information -- including tracking number -- to the buyer.
• Domestic default shipping is by USPS Media Mail.
• International shipping is by USPS First Class International Mail (up to 4 pounds in weight), or USPS Priority Mail International for higher weights.  Handling fees for international buyers are waived.  Insurance is not available for First Class International, but is for Priority Mail (for most countries).
• International buyers:  WE WILL NOT CIRCUMNAVIGATE CUSTOMS OR DUTY LAWS, but we will note on the label that the contents are “used, second-hand  record(s)," and specify country of manufacture, if known. ANY IMPORT FEES ARE YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.
• We will refund purchase and original shipping fees if you are not happy with your record, and give you 14 days after receiving the item to request a refund.  Return the item in its original packaging.  We do not give partial refunds.
• WE DO NOT REFUND FOR SHIPPING DAMAGE OR LOST PACKAGES.  If in doubt, buy insurance.  Be aware that postal insurance only covers the value of the item(s) purchased, not shipping fees.  You will be required to prove damage to make a claim.
• Finally, USPS will not ship to Ukraine.  Russia has very restrictive import regulations on merchandise purchased from foreign websites.  China, Italy and Argentina can also be problematic, and there may be delays at customs offices.  Please contact us, and your local import or postal office, for further details.

All the records we list come from the estate of Dr. James M. Kinney of New Windsor, Maryland, one of the East Coast’s largest record collectors.
