Description

1st Private Psych Avantgarde Seldom Rare Deviants Ptooff! 1968 Poster Cover
We all know this is a Rare, Valuable and Hard to Find Record Yes there are several reissues - but to have a first pressing how many out of the 8,000 copies are still available yet alone in collectable condition - not many better to have one of these than  a Decca Reissue

This monster debut is an explosive mix of proto-punk noise & heavy acid rock,  led by wild child Mick Farren, a British answer to MC5 & The Stooges, & a great example of the deliciously darker  end of the sixties underground.
UK 'underground' band of the 1960's based in Ladbroke Grove, London, and founded by journalist & singer/songwriter Mick Farren. Originally named The Social Deviants, but later shortened to The Deviants with a line-up of Farren (vocals), Sid Bishop (guitar), Cord Rees (bass) and Russell Hunter (drums). Rees was subsequently replaced by Duncan Sanderson, and Paul Rudolph later replaced Bishop. The band were occasionally billed as Mick Farren & The Deviants, trading on Farren's journalistic popularity and 'street cred'.
1st UK issue. Independent label release, contained in a 3-fold fly-out color poster.
Open 610mm x 915mm, folded down to 315 x 315mm sleeve.

Recorded in 1967. Distributed in 1968 in the UK through 'underground music' retailers of the time, as well as via mail-order ads in OZ and International Times (in which Farren was also a contributor).
Some 8, 000 copies were sold before its reissue on Decca.
