The Beatles

Please Please Me

Mono

(Black and Gold) 1st press!!

With VERY early 1M/1O Stampers/Mothers

*HEAVYWEIGHT QUALITY 159g Vinyl*

Well, this was the start of something HUGE! Here we have the very first pressing of the Beatles' first released album, from the 22nd of March 1963.

It was the first and only time the MONO version was released before the STEREO version.

She entered the charts on the 6th of April and climbed to the top slot-staying there for a huge CONSECUTIVE 30 weeks, from May!...Maybe HUGE is too small a word for it?!

The Vinyl:

159g

VG- visually but VG(+) audio playback.

She carries the many marks of a few parties (too right-I say ;) I have just finished listening to the whole album and found a very nice sound reproduction throughout the whole of each side..So much so, I played her twice!.

After giving her a ultrasonic clean and followed by a vacuum clean, I found playback as dynamic and as powerful as when she was born in 1963.

FLAT AS THE DAY SHE WAS BORN

**NO JUMPS/SKIPS or STICKS**

There is some background crackle, with the occasional pop, but I didn’t find these offensive at all, as the tracks blasted past this, so it was more noticeable inbetween tracks and in the very soft sections. I noticed a few pops in the transition from Do You Want To Know A Secret, into just the start of A Taste Of Honey. To be ultra critical, I noticed a brief 2 second bit of shilling towards the end of Please Please Me..Again-nothing at all to worry about.

I state the above is exactly what I hear when playing the album...I am FED UP with people thinking I have a time machine or portal where the vinyl will magically get to be in Near Mint condition upon arrival-IT WON’T so don’t waste my time and yours.

This baby PLAYS ALL THE WAY THROUGH & DID NOT SKIP WHEN I PLAYED HER-TWICE!

Still raw and powerful!

I have included a clip of this record-you can hear how powerful she still is and also see how flat she remains...I have included an image of the arm setting too-please see and hear for yourselves.

The Labels:

G+.

As you can see in the detailed images-this is the singular down-point of this copy as there is lifting to the top of the side 1 label.

Side 2 label is lovely and clean and would display well.

NO WRITING TO EITHER SIDE.

There is some central hole wear as can be seen in the detailed pictures provided.

The Parlophone Company' edge lower case text.

NO 'Sold In The UK' text.

NO 'First Published' text,

Small 33 1/3

Carries the 1st printing with the DICK JAMES CREDITS:

Songs 1,2,6 & 7 on side 1 as well as songs 4 & 6 on side 2 have the "DICK JAMES MUS. Co." credit.

*Very Frameable*

The Cover:

VG+.

This is THE original 1st PRINTING RUN by Ernest J. Day cover, with the Angus McBean credit to the EXTREME lower right corner.

She has also survived well and remains wonderfully clean and solid.

There are only a few insignificant lines of spidering-to the front laminate...Please see the detailed images for yourselves.

These EJ Day covers were made at a ratio of roughly 1:10 to the more common Garrod & Lofthouse covers.

The bottom right corner to the back (not the front) has a small patch missing from the flipback, as does the top right corner to the flipback, but this would not be visible when framed.

Small name to the top of the back card.

With the back card remaining lovely and clean-as can be seen in the images provided.

The spine remains strong and free from splits but is rubbed to the top and bottom corners.

The front cover is still very bright.

ALL ORIGINAL!!

WOULD LOOK GREAT FRAMED.

The inner:

EX+!

Original "Use Emitex" poly-lined inner. In TOP SHAPE!

NO SPLITS & NO WRITING.

Barely even any discolouration! SUPERB

It is also the earliest you could hope for as it has the

"PATENTS APPLIED FOR"

text to the bottom left corner of one side!

ALL IN ALL THIS IS A VERY 1ST COPY OF THE BEATLES' VERY FIRST EXPLOSION ONTO THE SCENE

A SCENE WHICH WOULD REMAIN CHANGED FOREVER FOLLOWING THIS RELEASE.

SHE WOULD SIT PROUD IN ANYONE'S COLLECTION.

VERY EARLY MOTHERS & STAMPERS.

RARER E J DAY COVER TOO.

(Maybe subject to VAT when sold within the EU)
