1992 CD ATR 7040 ASV Transacord 'Steam Railway Sound Effects' Compact Disc UK produced by Peter Handford; Featuring a selection of sound effects from the days of Steam.
A varied and comprehensive selection of the sounds of steam locomotives at work on British Railways in the years, between 1955 and 1961, when steam locomotives were still a dominant form of motive power on most lines.
The various recordings on this CD have been chosen without regard for any particular locomotive types, or regions, with the intention of providing a generalised impression of the operation of a steam railway.
All the original recordings were made in mono and they are being issued in the mono mode since electronic stereo processing might possibly degrade the quality of the original tracks. Also, since it is hoped that this CD might be used to add realism to the operation of model railways, the addition of stereo movements might cause some confusion.
