1982 German Goth MALARIA Rare ACETATE RECORD Punk "Your Turn to Run"
This 12" 45 RPM record is a rare acetate version of YOUR TURN TO RUN by Malaria, a German Goth band who led the German Goth movement, along with the band "X-MAL DEUTSCHLAND".
MALARIA consisted of: BETTINA KÖSTER and GUDRUN GUT (of Mania D), MANON P. DUURSMA (from Nina Hagen's early project O.U.T.), and CHRISTINE HAHN and SUSANNE KUHNKE (of Die Haut).
"YOUR TURN TO RUN" reached the Independant Top 10 both in the U.S. and in Europe. It is from the 3-song EP titled "New York Passage" which was recorded at Sorcerer Sound Studio in New York. (Produced by "The Whale") - which was originally released on Cachalot Records Big6Usa in 1982, and in England on Jungle Records in 1983.
Acetate records are very rare. They are taken from the master tape and are made of an aluminum base/plate which is then covered with acetone and pressed. They are made for the purpose of reviewing the mix or specific take of the song. Only a few are made, sometimes only for the sound engineer, sometimes for the members of the band, but either way, only a few are made. In some cases, the version or mix of the song which is on the acetate does not make it to the final LP, making it even MORE rare. Acetate records degrade more quickly than conventional vinyl, and thus, I have not played the entire record all the way through, to preserve the quality for the buyer. I played a short 20 second section of the song, and it sounds in VG condition, with light surface noise. Due to the nature of Acetate records, it is suggested that the buyer record the vinyl to cd or digital file, if multiple plays are desired.
