Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE...Original 1975 private pressing by Timbercreek, a California crew of hippie musicians sounding on the heels of The Grateful Dead in the early 70's...this, their only album is pretty rare, commanding some fairly stiff prices from collectors. One source advised there to be no more than 100 copies pressed, which we feel was a bit higher...

Back in 1975, a bunch of dudes from Santa Cruz, California, found themselves in a recording studio and decided to make a rural rock album of a sort of Dead-meets-early Eagles variety. The result, Hellbound Highway, an obscure private pressing made its appearance on Renegade Records the same year, but as only about 100 copies were pressed, very few have experienced the delights of this laidback recording. Some of the songs are terrific, particularly the opener and title track, with its psych-y lead guitar hook, a clever twist in the chorus and a great melody, and the side-closers are both outstanding. In between, we’re treated to some mellow guitar infused rural rock, with some excellent steel guitar and some highly appropriate and surprisingly tuneful vocals, and the occasional fuzz guitar putting in a welcome appearance.

So here's a sought after rarity that shows up in virtually every 'heavy hitter' reference work including Patrick Lumborg's Acid Archives, Vernon Joynson's Fuzz, Acid and Flowers, and Hans Pokora's Record Collector Dreams series.

Material like the title track, 'Tantra Queen' and 'Pass the Bottle' shared a similar slightly stoned Americana/rural-rock vibe. The set featured nine original tracks credited as being jointly written with lyrics by non-member Frank Andrick All five members shared vocal duties, but like the Dead, these guys lacked a truly outstanding singer. The basic song structures were all quite good, as were the performances (bassist Hicks playing a homemade instrument was particularly impressive), a couple of the songs ('Hellbound Highway' and ''Nobody On the Streets) really jumped out at you. 'Course the same comment can be made for many Dead albums.

Some of the highlights include:

The opening track with some 'on the road' sound effects, 'Hellbound Highway' has a distinctive Dead feel. What distinguished this one from most of the album was a truly energetic performance with some first rate lead guitar. 'Tantra Queen' is apparently a love song dedicated to a paddle wheel river boat ... You could easily have been forgiven for mistaking it for another Dead outtake with some nice group harmonies. Not sure who handled lead vocals on 'Pass the Bottle', but whoever it was had the best voice in the band. This rural-tinged ballad was also the album's prettiest composition sounding like very early Eagles.

Opening with some great bass playing, 'Nobody on The Streets; is side one's standout performance. This one had everything need to have been a hit - great melody, fantastic harmony vocals, and the album's tastiest fuzz and pedal steel guitar performances. While 'Stoned Cold Turkey' finds the band returning to Dead-styled rock. On this one the spotlight focused on twin lead guitars. Guessing 'Fallen Angel;' was dedicated to the late Gram Parsons. Pretty, heartfelt ballad. With a distinctive country twang, with a catchy melody we like 'Tom Haley' quite a bit. And....did you ever imagine what the Dead would have sounded like had they hung out with The Allman Brothers? Well, 'Hell in the Hills' may be as close as you'll ever come to such a mixup ... Great lead guitar that would have made Duane Allman smile.

CONDITION: The cover: Solid VG++ just a 'touch' of shelf wear, nothing much at all...having  no bends, no writing and NO split saeams...

The vinyl: all glossy over both sides, M- looks and plays very enjoyable without any audio problems, smooth and clear, and both "Renegade" labels are clean.
