Description

PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question.   OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week.   Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback.   We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery.   We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP $4.00 Media; 2-4 discs $5.00; .50 each additional disc Priority rates vary by area; please inquire.   CANADA ~ 1 LP 8.50; 2 discs $10.00; 3 discs $11.50; over 4 please contact us for shipping costs.   AUSTRALIA, THAILAND, JAPAN ~ 1 LP $18.00; 2 discs $23.00; 3 discs $27.00; 4 discs $32.00. Rare to find CLEAN original....

TOP SOUGHT AFTER & hard to find CLEAN...Original 1969 first pressing vinyl in thick gatefold ((wild visuals of a burning Viking ship cover))... a great, obscure underground psych group mixing heavy rock, prog and psych with a predominant organ and powerful vocals on tracks like "Psychedelic Minds", "Going Nowhere" and "Overseas Symphony".

A fusion between 60's psychedelia and the new Heavy-Rock sounds of 1969, Valhalla appeared in Long Island, N.Y., which is strange as the Heavy-Rock movement appeared mostly in Britain in the late sixties.

"Hard Times", the opener, is a fusion of strong guitar riffs and keyboards. If you dont like this song you wont like the album, because the following tracks are pretty much all in the same style. The guitar and keys are the basis of the sound. "Conceit", again this song is full of guitar solos while Hulling is singing, but when its only the guitar playing the solo turns into a monochordic sound, and along with the chorus, it is quite good. The strenght of the previous 'hard' tracks disappear in "Ladies In Waiting", and its not bad, actually one of the best songs in the album, a keyboard/drums dominated track. "I'm Not Askin" has alot of heavy blues influences. It also features a 4-minute guitar solo and Hulling's shouting vocals. "Heads Are Free" is almost Doors-like, the vocals, the keyboard, the rhythm, its almost like hearing them. "UBT" is even calmer than "Ladies in Waiting" using the same instruments.  The screams at the end of "Overseas Symphony" are really delicious.

The album's cover is a sinking burning Viking ship. The name Valhalla is the 'paradise' of all the Vikings who died fighting honorably.

Valhalla:
- Mark Mangold - Piano, Organ, Vocals
- Rick Ambrose - Bass, Vocals
- Don Krantz - Guitar, Bass
- Eddie Livingston - Drums
- Bob Huling - Vocals

CONDITION: The Cover: thick gatefold is really hard to find clean...most copies IF found have considerable ring wear, this copy, "EX" (excellent), is a survivor with a 'touch' of shelf wear starting, on back cover...does have a delete drill at top right, but get passed that and you've a top flight rarity with bright orig colors, no bends, no split seams and no writing...

The Vinyl: all clean over both sides, M- and plays fantastic...a real keeper of sorts or upgrade if you will...CLEAN labels make this copy a 'rare' winner....

A cool addition to anyone's music library!
