PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Extremely rare '69 first pressing local private press psych/garage & pop psych obscurity with unexpected arrangements and the MONSTER-rated track "On the Brink". Never been Reissued and virtually impossible to find, this might be your only chance for quite some time. One thing for sure -- psych & garage collectors all love the fabulous tripped-out, fuzzed, backwards tapes and tight action of the killer opener "On The Brink" (listen to it above.) Then also, the pop rock and pop/psych tunes that follow, may at first go 'over the radar' - but are actually quite catchy, and tend to stick in the listeners head log afterwards. In similar to both the rare LP's by AUGUST and FREDRIC with melodic & moody tempos. A real grower with repeat plays to the point where you may very well find yourself surprised at what "The Grapes Of Rathe" LP has to offer.

The whole things plays out with a strong wasted / smaltzy sunset strip vibe. A couple tracks hit a nice lost folkrock sound in Chris Lucey / Bobby Jameson zones. Elsewhere some tunes are more part of UK '60s tradition than that of a group of US origin. '60s UK beat/British Invasion are the heart of some of the mixes which drive to various ramifications; after repeat listens the memorable /catchy melodies both amaze & intoxicate.
Going against the current of pop-rock sixties, The Grapes Of Rathe created a totally magnetic sound that some collectors feel to be a major work when talking underground rock obscurities. Advised the album was rewarded 5 stars in the rare records book: "5001 Record Collector Dreams".

CONDITION: The cover: issued as a one sided cover design (the back cover is blank white), rated: "EX" (excellent) to M- which is quite nice for this wear-prone white cover that would normally attract dirt and soil. Has a fresh appearance from 46 years ago ...no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: thick platter is very clean, rated: M- looks and plays in top level ... both private press "Taurus" labels are clean
