ORIG 1968 "MIRROR" COVER ~ THEIR PSYCHEDELIC ALBUM

                                                                                      THE MONKEES

                      "HEAD"

...USA - COLGEMS- COSO 5008

RARE ORIGINAL COLGEMS LABEL 1968 first printing with "mirror" all silver foil cover......***STILL IN SHRINK WRAPPER and MINT!!!! near impossible to find clean copies of this psychedelic MONKEES album in nice shape as the "mirror" cover USUALLY gets wear standing still...this 40 year old original with factory shrink wrapper is as clean as anyone could hope for!

This soundtrack to the psychedelic 1968 movie was assembled by famed actor Jack Nicholson who was also associate producer of the movie.  An authentically important document of the time (1968), alternating half a dozen intensely lovely songs (including Tork's mystical triumph `Can You Dig It' plus Nesmith's rousing `Circle Sky') with mad cap Monkees poetry and tripped out dialogue...In 1968, combating charges that they were a pre-fab Beatles knockoff with no real talent, the Monkees went the Liverpudlians one better by making HEAD, a wild, experimental "trips" film that made A HARD DAY'S NIGHT look like a drawing-room drama. The soundtrack has some freewheeling moments to match it, but more significantly, it contains some of the Monkees' best tunes from the period when the runaway train of their huge pop hits started losing speed. Seemingly influenced by the band's (particularly Mickey Dolenz's) love of Tim Buckley (who was a musical guest on the Monkees' TV show), "As We Go Along" is an incredibly moving slice of balladic folk-rock that could have fallen off of Buckley's seminal HAPPY SAD. The beloved "Porpoise Song (Theme from Head)" is a sun-drenched psychedelic gem that stands up to anything on SGT. PEPPER'S or PET SOUNDS.   1. Opening Ceremony 2. Porpoise Song (Theme From Head) 3. Ditty Diego-War Chant 4. Circle Sky 5. Supplicio 6. Can You Dig It 7. Gravy 8. Superstitious 9. As We Go Along 10. Dandruff? 11. Daddy's Song 12. Poll 13. Do I Have To Do This All Over Again 14. Swami       CONDITION: VINTAGE silver foil (mirror) covers get scuffs just about standing still, a product of the times ...this one is in factory shrink wrap from 1968,  MINT CONDITION, very rare!     The vinyl is strong M- no flaws, no problems, TOP class glossy clean CONTAINS the original Colgems 1968 inner sleeve with only MONKEES Lp's pictured...                                                           keeeper!           GREAT ADDITION  TO ANYONES COLLECTIBLES!
