Description

1968 Colonell Sanders KFC Promotion LP (Colonel Sanders Tijuana Picnic)

Unknown Artist – “Colonel Sanders’ Tijuana Picnic” (Mark 56 543 / 535). Unusual 1968 promotional Lp available from Kentucky Fried Chicken includes Herb Alpert styled cuts by a group not named. Produced by Mark 56, the issue number is different on either side of the record. Cuts include: “A Taste of Honey”; “Lonely bull”; “Chili Verde”; “Spanish Flea”; “Our Day Will Come”; “Tijuana Taxi”; “Green Peppers”; “El Garbanzo”; “El Toro”; and “Third Man Theme.” On the back are comments by the Colonel on each cut. For instance, for “El Garbanzo”, “The Garbanzo is a Mexican bean, or chick pea, and very good, indeed. Also, it happens to be one of the beans that is used in my mixed bean salad.” A fascinating piece of advertising history and an album on several lists of albums collectible for other than the quality of the contents. Record is in strong VG+ condition and cover (shrinkwrap) is in M- condition.
