...USA - Imperial Records - LP 9312 - MONO
Original 1966 VINYL in glorious MONO ...a unique USA first pressing issued in the USA as "Beat Group" and titled "Would You Believe?" in the UK. Both Lp's were released in 1966 and feature different tracks from each other. One of the stand-out tracks is the classic Sorrows claim to fame "I Take What I Want", a powerful raver number with infectious sound ,,,as well, The Hollies rave-up with a take on The Beatles "Mr Moonlight" which is not on the UK version of the Lp. A sign of growth for the band on Beat Group includes the Chip Taylor cover "I Can't Let Go," a major hit for the band. The Hollies self-written songs are also considered to be among the more progressive tunes on the album: "Hard Hard Year," "Oriental Sadness," "Fifi the Flea," and "I've Got a Way of My Own." "Fifi," had lyrics outside of the band's norm; "Oriental Sadness" featured distinctly Asian-sounding chords; and "Hard Hard Year" and "I've Got A Way Of My Own" (which had previously appeared on the B-Side of "If I Needed Someone") are both folk-rock grooves with outta-sight harmonies as only the early Hollies could do.
