PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Talk about having all the breaks at the right time: Beatles' manager Brian Epstein handling your career, John Lennon giving your group a new name, touring as opening act for The Beatles, being produced by John Simon (famed producer of Janis Joplin and of The Band) and having Paul Simon toss songs your way.
The Cyrkle had it all, including six Hot 100 singles between May 1966 and September 1967.
Among those hits, a Top 10 smash with their very first single, a gorgeous piece of pop written by Paul Simon (of Simon & Garfunkel fame) that was called "Red Rubber Ball."
That tune rose to # 2 on the Billboard magazine Hot 100 Singles chart in the summer of 1966 which in turn got the an album deal, and here it is:
Thee LP, titled Red Rubber Ball, was recorded in the spring of 1966 under producer John Simon, utilizing the same lyrical folk-rock sound found on the 45 disc. It rose to number 47 on the charts and a second single, "Turn Down Day," was issued in the early summer of 1966, reaching number 16 and thus completing the group's stay in the pop chart annals. They continued despite several personnel changes -- Earl Pickens left for medical school and was replaced by Mike Losekamp, but just as suddenly as the group emerged, the group's fortunes gradually ebbed coupled with the death of Brian Epstein in the summer of 1967, and that, interrupted the interest there was in continuing with the group.
They did record some interesting and ambitious songs during their final year of work, including "Red Chair Fade Away," an early song by the Bee Gees. During the group's final days together, they contributed songs -- including some very spaced-out psychedelia to an independently financed dramatic film that was eventually released as a sexploitation vehicle under the title The Minx.
