We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. It doesn't change anything in that other musicians were doing projects like 'Pet Sounds' and 'Freak Out' in era 1966- '67 ; you still can't argue with equally great music as was released by SAM THE SHAM AND THE PHARAOHS when they countered with their clever smash hit 'Little Red Riding Hood' in 1966.

Also known as “Lil’ Red Riding Hood,” was an updated version of the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale, with the lead singer (Sam The Sham ) portraying the wolf. In this context, the singer is preying on the girl through lies and deception in an attempt to win her favor and take advantage of her. It’s a scene played out in many social situations, as an aggressive guy might play lots of tricks to seduce an unsuspecting girl.
Written by Ronald Blackwell and produced by Stan Kesler, this was the second big hit for the Texas band Sam the Sham & the Pharaohs. Their debut hit “Wooly Bully” made it to #2 on the national hit charts.
Sam, whose real name is Domingo Samudio, developed his act in the Dallas Texas area where his band played lots of local dances. With the Pharaohs, he became a garage-rock act, touring in a hearse and wearing turbans and Egyptian garb on stage. Some of their other songs were “The Hair On My Chinny Chin Chin,” “I Couldn’t Spell †&%$@?!” and “Pharoah A-Go Go.”
The group’s female backup singers were known as The Sham-Ettes, and when “Little Red Riding Hood” took off, the group’s record label, MGM, had the Sham-Ettes releases a now scarce answer song called “Hey There Big Bad Wolf.”
The 1966 song “Lil’ Red Ridin’ Hood” performed by Sam the Sham and the Pharaoh reached Number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in August 1966 and was the bands second top 10 hit. The song is based off Charles Perrault’s 1698 fairy tale Little Red Riding Hood. The song replaces the figure of the wolf with that of a man. The song takes the fairy tale façade out and replaces it with a sexual undertone. With lyrics such as “you sure are looking good”, “what full lips you have, they’re sure to lure someone”, it’s hard to not see a sexual, even pedophile undertone to the song. The original story has been analyzed and interpreted as being about sexual awakening, female puberty and her sexual maturity. The authors own moral warning states: “…attractive, well bred young ladies, should never talk to strangers…”
The song does seem to have a twist. It goes from opening with a howl and having sexual undertones, to the singer sounding like a sweet, protective gentleman just looking for love; “what a big heart I have, the better to love you with, Little Red Riding Hood, even bad wolves can be good, I'll try to be satisfied just to walk close by your side…” suggest something more innocent than previous lyrics. Of course, as the song continues you can tell the sweet, nice guy persona, is in fact a lie like the wolf in the Perrault’s short story. The lines: “I'm gonna keep my sheep suit on until I'm sure that you've been shown that I can be trusted walking with you alone…” and “You sure are looking good, you're everything that a big bad wolf could want. [howls] I mean baaaaaa” clearly indicate a devious motive and not one of sweet intent. The fact that the singer has to remind himself to say “baaa” like a sweet, harmless sheep instead of howling like the mischievous wolf he truly is. He is indeed a wolf in sheep’s clothing.
