Description

This is an incredibly rare Chess Records Sales and Promo Kit from 1966. It is a briefcase style box with metal latches that would be carried by the Chess Sales guy to Distributors and/or DJ's. The case is black with the Chess Logo in Gold on the front. Inside the bottom area holds 10 DJ/Promo Chess LP's, including "Howlin' Wolf Real Folk Blues" and "Muddy Waters Real Folk Blues" . The top holds a large glossy LP-sized catalog of 14 Chess LP Selections, entitled "Profits in the Sun". The catalog is comprised of actual front and back LP cover art sheets stapled in the jacket. Along with the catalog, there is a pristine LP Order Form, AND a signed letter from Sales head Dick LaPalm outlining sales offers and incentives to buyers. Most of the LP's have been opened and were likely played for people by the salesman, however they are all in excellent condition with beautiful covers that have been in this case for years... It even smells right when you open it.

The included LP's are: Howlin' Wolf - "Real Folk Blues", Muddy Waters - "Real folk Blues", Fontella Bass - "The New Look", Ramsey Lewis - "Hang on Ramsey", The Blues - "Volume 5", Art Blakey - "Tough", Reverend Moore - "More Fools Needed", Jean DuShon - "Feeling Good", Sonny Sitt + Zoot Simms "Inter-action", Fred Whaker Big Band "Swings Cool". These are DJ/Promo copies and marked as such on the LP label.
