This is from a top of the market collection, comprising of just early stereo rarities on Decca HMV, UK Columbia & RCA. First labels issues in Near Mint condition to 99% of them, all described in detail with plenty of pictures. Includes many items rarely seen on ebay. This week plenty of Violin, as here.
1963 Netania Davrath with Pierre De La Roche & Unnamed Orchestra in the Canteloube: Chants de L'Auvergne Curved Hifi Stereo plum labels 838 200 AY. The Vanguard gatefold twofer reissue which I have known and loved for all these years was on the TAS list of audiophile recordings, and first european pressings as here from six years before that are almost unheard of, not appearing on ebay for many years that I have noticed or been able to locate through archives. It would have been chosen under their category of "Exceptionally natural and musical sound, as opposed to the merely hi-fi spectacular". It is still the definitive performance of these great songs in the delightful southern french occitan dialect, an unashamed example of sublime beauty. Note the 2 years later released companion volume of the same singer in other Auvergne songs also in our list this week (I checked the release dates against the Gramophone reviews, the long separation in Uk issuing is correct).
This is Near Mint with good sheen , has clean labels, and the sleeve is Excellent, bottom of opening rubbed.
