1962 A Session With The Blue Ridge Quartet Christian Gospel Vinyl LP Record VG+
Record Grade per Goldmine Standard: VG+
Elmo Fagg says, "Boy!, Did I fall off that last note". Ed Sprouse, "And I really sounded a bit washed out". Bill Crowe grumps, "I just didn't seem to be able to read the words, guess I need glasses". "George Younce chimes, "Say, Have my tones ever been fuzzier? They keep tickling my ears". Kenny Gates, quietly contemplating his fingers, adds, "Sounded like I was playing while wearing boxing gloves". The above remarks are from the lips of a group of dedicated, concientious and hyper - self critical men immediately upon hearing the play-back of a song during a recording session. The self exam- ination continues , punctuated by the whirring of tape machines, retouching of instrumental back- ground phrases and minor adjustments to the vo- calizing, until its murmur is lost in the stirring, crisp sounds of "rolling" from the engineer and "take two" from George. Then these men, each a prefectionist, again tackle their job with de- termination and a love for it, and the marvelous miracle of beauteous blending takes place and again your ears hear "the sweetest singing this side of Heaven". Whether the session be in a studio, on a church platform, an auditorium stage, a rehersal hall, around a piano in the relaxed atmosphere of the home, via your radio or television set, spontan- eously sung in the car while riding across town or in the bus traveling across the nation; you can be assured of one thing always, a session with the Blue Ridge Quartet will always be inspiring, refreshing, enjoyable, momentous and memorable. Now, turn on your set, put the record in place, lift the arm, set the stylus and -mmmmmmmmm 'See what-1 mean?
