Description
From one LP collector to another, I really don't need to explain the sound quality of this copy, but we know, it is one of the best. This personal copy comes out of my own collection and is targeted to the Jazz collector out there.
This auction is for Donald Byrd's release "At the Half Note - Vol. 1" - on the original 1961 Blue Note Records MONO pressing - catalog # BLP 4060. In addition to being an extremely beauty of a copy (that is a very hard one to find in this condition), it also contains all the hallmarks that confirm it is a 1st pressing -- including the "RVG", "ear/P symbol", and the "9M" engravings in the dead-wax area. This edition also has the required "47 W. 63rd - NYC", "copyright R" below the letter "E" of "NOTE", and the "deep groove" - at or around the label and area.
You probably won't find a better edition on eBay at this bargain starting price.....GOOD LUCK!
Trail-off Matrix #s: side 1: RVG BN-LP-4060 'A' "ear/P" 9M
side 2: RVG BN-LP-4060 'B' "ear/P" 9M
CONDITION
Labels: side 1 - NM / very bright and clear colors
side 2 - NM / very bright and clear colors
Album Visual Qualitative: side 1 - NM / side 2 - NM
- This copy looks like it hasn't been played in quite some time, and if it was, it was only for a few times. This is a very clean and outstanding looking piece of vinyl. The sound quality will be just as clean.
Audio Quality: NM (visual grade only)
- Album was not played.
Inner Sleeve: VG+
- Original Blue Note inner sleeve is in excellent condition with some handling wear. There is one corner bend from moving the LP in an out of the cover.
Cover: VG+
- The jacket/cover is flat and free of warping and still retains all of its gloss, original sharpness, and clear crisp printing, but may have some very slight shelf, storage and handling wear. The front of the jacket does look very clean and free from defects. The spine is intact, straight and there are no signs of crackling from handling on any edge. There are no seam splits. Overall, the jacket is a 50 year old gem and very deserving of the higher grade.
- This medium-weighted cardboard jacket is also very sturdy when laid flat and still lays flat. For the back of the cover, there are very little signs of handling and/or shelf wear, but there is a price written in pencil on the top left corner and of small glue "stain" at the bottom right region (see photo). The corners are all sharp and still square, and only showing very little wear or rounding from storage and handling.
- The back cover, barring any other previous noted flaws, still retains a nice and clear readable print, in addition to the still bright white slick-back.
- Another overall VERY NICE COPY from my personal collection. Please review all the pictures I've included for additional clarity.
Good Luck!

Welcome to my auction!
NOTE to winning bidder -- PLEASE WAIT FOR AN INVOICE TO BE SENT TO YOU BEFORE PAYING. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
Over the next several weeks, I will be selling numerous exclusive, hard-to-find and rare comic collectibles - including Marvel and DC action figures, original comic art, signed and unsigned comic prints and cards, vintage and signed comics, and many other items.
Also, be on the look out for rare signed albums and promo 45s, music memorabilia or one of the many other numerous items that are sure to catch your eye. All items are from my personal collection that has been amassed over the past 35 years.
**Comic books will be graded using Overstreet grading.
**Action figures will be visually graded only and will use "C" grade packaging guidelines for grading (see below).
**LPs and 45 rpm records will be graded based upon the 2004 Official Record Price Guide, as well as, Goldmine and eBay record grading standards. As with all visual and hearing grades, they are subjective and not conclusive.
All items are sold "AS IS", but I will do my best to describe each item to the best of my ability. All items are carefully visually graded to give you, the bidder, the most information and the best details related to the item. If you have questions, please be sure to ask BEFORE you bid and BEFORE the auction is over. I will not honor bid retractions due to a person stating that the item isn't "what they thought", when they have not asked any questions. Please be aware that any non-payment winning bids will receive negative feedback and will be reported to eBay.
All play grades of vinyl records are stated and based only upon my viewpoint of the grade. Although, I do play the record on a Pioneer direct-drive turntable, using a Stanton needle.
All visual grades for vinyl auctions are based upon the following standards:
- SS Still Sealed - in factory-fresh condition
- NM Near Mint - a near perfect, probably unplayed, but opened record
- VG+ Very Good Plus - close to 'like new' with only superficial signs of use that don't affect play. Only well cared for records will grade out to VG+. Will satisfy all but the most demanding collector.
- VG Very Good - a used, reasonable copy. There will be obvious signs of wear and the possibility of light surface noise between tracks or during quiet passages, but still quite nice.
- VG- Very Good Minus - significant wear and marks and usually quite noticeable surface noise.
- G+ Good Plus. In the record world, 'Good' is not good! From here on down (Fair, Poor), we're talking about beat-up records.
