Description
From 1959, this is a really nice copy of the first LP by the first lady of English folk song, Shirley Collins. Produced and with liner notes by her then beau, the American musicologist Alan Lomax, Sweet England: a collection of Love Songs and Ballads from Southern England contains 18 examples of the form, including all time classics like The Cuckoo, Pretty Saro and Barbara Allen. This is the original edition on Argo RG 150, with laminated flip-back sleeve. The record is in excellent condition and plays through fine beginning to end, with a couple of very minor crackles but no serious faults. The cover shows some minor creasing and light soil. A great record and originals get harder to find with each passing year. Postage to the UK for this item will be US$12.00.
