1957 MONO JAZZ: STAN GETZ- Intimate Portrait: ARS Label G-428: RVG Stamp: in EX

Offered is a hard-to-find LP featuring the talented Stan Getz: "Intimate Portrait".

Information on the label (please see photos) indicates that it is from the American Recording Society with a G-428 catalogue number, and is in Mono.

The likely release date is 1957, and was mastered by Rudy Van Gelder.  Rudy's "RVG" stamp is in the deadwax run out on both Side A & B.

It states that it was recorded in Sweden, although ARS is an American Label. If you use the magnification feature on the label photos, you can see the names of the other musicians, as well as the Tracklist:

Get happy
Without a song
I can't believe that you're in love with me
Everything happens to me
Back home in Indiana
A ghost of a chance
Jeepers creepers
Over the rainbow.

THE VINYL :  EX :  Lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear, both of the LP surfaces retain all of their original gloss. Evident are some light hairlines that cause some ticking when the needle encounters them.
There are no deep marks. Undamaged blue / silver labels with bright color.

THE COVER :  EX+ :  The covers that were issued by the American Recording Society Jazz Division Series were somewhat unconventional. From the photos, you can see that the cover consists of a piano keyboard around the edges of a colorful, heavy plastic sleeve with the LP opening at the top. Inside the sleeve is a 4 page booklet / insert that serves as "liner notes".  While the booklet has three hole punch marks for a conventional ring binder, the plastic sleeve does not have those holes.

This "Cover" has been carefully stored and is in great condition. The plastic sleeve is intact with no tears, holes or missing portions, no writing, dirt or stains. The booklet is in the same condition, with a faint amount of age-related fading.

RECORD GRADING DESCRIPTION:

THIS RECORD IS SIGHT-GRADED ONLY UNDER A BRIGHT LIGHT, ACCORDING TO THESE DEFINITIONS:

SEALED: RECORD IS WRAPPED IN PLASTIC & UNOPENED.

NM-: RECORD HAS LITTLE OR NO INDICATION THAT IT HAS BEEN PLAYED.

EX: MINIMAL SIGNS OF USE (LIGHT SCRATCHING/PAPER SCUFFS), BUT IN ALL A RECORD THAT HAS BEEN WELL-CARED FOR.

VG+: LESS CARE THAN EX, LIGHT SCRATCHING OR SCUFFING IS MORE EXTENSIVE. STILL VERY PLAYABLE & WILL LIKELY PROVIDE A QUALITY SOUND.

VG & BELOW: WHILE PLAYABLE, THIS RECORD HAS BEEN AROUND THE BLOCK. OBVIOUS SIGNS OF WEAR & SHOULD BE CONSIDERED TO BE IN A LOW GRADE.  A RECORD GRADED BELOW VG MAY HAVE A VALUE BASED UPON ITS RARITY OR UNIQUENESS.

WE  RECOMMEND THAT YOU CLEAN THIS RECORDING BEFORE PLAYING. RECORDS THAT ARE  DECADES OLD CAN ATTRACT & ACCUMULATE DAMAGING FOREIGN MATERIAL THAT REDUCES SOUND QUALITY. THIS IS NORMALLY EASILY CORRECTED WITH A GOOD CLEANING.
