Description
You're bidding on an original 1956 Sun Studio Promotional picture of Carl Perkins WITH his autograph. This is one of a collection I bought of photo albums with several autographed pictures of Sun stars from the '50s. The lady who owned it was a teenager in Mississippi who saw them in concert and was able to get her hands on the promotional pictures and got autographs at that time. This photo was taken of Carl soon after "Blue Suede Shoes" was a hit. The pictures were sent mostly to record stores and radio stations and some were passed out at concerts to a few lucky fans.
The picture is an 8"x 10" in high gloss black & white. It came from a photo album of that time, and has the tabs on all four corners There is one slight bend on the lower right corner, but will smooth out if pressed down for a while. The photo says "To Babs Carl Perkins" on the lower left side. Underneath the picture are words printed: CARL PERKINS- Exlusive SUN Recording Artist. Soon after this, Carl was in a bad car wreck that almost took his life and left him hospitialized for several months. By the time he got out, the momentum he got from "Blue Suede Shoes" was gone, and after 1957, Carl moved to Columbia Records.
Don't miss your chance to own a beautiful one-of-a-kind autographed promotional pic of Carl Perkins from 1956. This would be a great future Christmas or birthday gift for any Rockabilly or early rock and roll fan!
