Description

This is for an original 1950 Chess 1426 78 RPM record of Muddy Waters playing Rollin’ Stone on the A side with Walking Blues on the reverse. As almost everyone knows, the Rolling Stones were huge fans of original blues artists such as Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf and this would be the song that they would name the band after. The song would become Muddy’s signature tune. Chess records was started in 1950 and while Eugene Ammons would record the first 78 ever, 1425 “My Foolish Heart”, Muddy’s 1426 “Rollin Stone” was recorded at the same time and both records would be released simultaneously in June of 1950. The 78 displays great and plays through with no skips but there is definitely some hiss and crackle in the background. Extremely rare in any condition and a must have for any Chess collector, blues collector, or Muddy Waters collector. I’ve tried to show both sides of the 78 at different angles so you can judge the condition for yourself. Far from mint, but still a nice single to own along with being the second ever recorded at Chess.
