Well hello friends and howdy neighbors, welcome to the show with the homespun flavor.  Friends, when you listen to these folks tonight, I want you to picture them as they really are - a group of boys and girls from the farms, hills and backwoods of the southlands, who have inherited the knack of playing and singing these simple folk melodies. Tonight we find them gathered for an old-fashioned shindig and play party, just as their forefathers did many years ago.  So join us for a half hour, neighbors, and swing into the spirit of the party and listen to the Smoky Mountain Boys and Girls as they play and sing "Good Ole Mountain Dew..."

And here's a wonderful original WAR DEPARTMENT RADIO PROGRAM TRANSCRIPTION DISC containing an episode of the legendary country music program "GRAND OLE OPRY" from Nashville, Tennessee.  It's a live performance.

The program contains the following songs:

• "Good Ole Mountain Dew" (Smoky Mountain Boys and Girls) 
• "Home In San Antone" (Roy Acuff)
• Comedy from Cousin Minnie Pearl
• "Pretty Little Pink" (Minnie Pearl) 
• "The Prodigal Son" (Roy Acuff) - in the intro, he refers to this as his latest recording. 
• Comedy from Whitey Ford, "The Duke of Paducah"
• "Honey, Where You Been So Long"
• "When It's Prayer Meetin' Time In The Hollow" (The Old Hickory Singers)

The disc then concludes with a live performance by "LOUISE MASSEY AND THE WESTERNERS", a western swing group, of the following songs: 

• "Sweet Georgia Brown"
• "Far From Home"
• "I Walk Alone"
• "Ta-Ra-Ra-Boom-De-Ay"
• "San Fernando Valley"
• "You're A Grand Old Flag"
• "Ridin' Down That Old Texas Trail"

TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, THIS SHOW IS NOT IN CIRCULATION. FOR THAT REASON, THERE IS NO RETURN PRIVILEGE ON THIS SPECIFIC TRANSCRIPTION DISC. IT IS SOLD "AS IS".

This is an original 16" WAR DEPARTMENT disc, issued by the AFRS to be heard by servicemen throughout the world. It is in a protective sleeve. The disc is clean and uncracked; the recordings are in very good condition with no skips.
