Description
Here's an original 1934 "HOLLYWOOD RADIO PREVIEWS" 16" TRANSCRIPTION DISC PROMOTING 2 UNIVERSAL FILMS: "WAKE UP AND DREAM" & "GIFT OF GAB". This single-sided record holds a complete syndicated quarter-hour program (12 minutes) hosted by Hollywood reporter Jack Kerrington. The program presents audio clips from both films. I don't believe this program is in circulation.
The "WAKE UP AND DREAM" clip is RUSS COLUMBO singing "Too Beautiful For Words".
"GIFT OF GAB" coverage includes a reading of cast names (including BORIS KARLOFF & BELA LUGOSI ~ NOTE THAT THEIR NAMES ARE MENTIONED BUT THEY DO NOT SPEAK). Clips include a dramatic scene with EDMOND LOWE & GLORIA STUART, a comedy sketch including PHIL BAKER & HUGH O'CONNOR, RUTH ETTING singing "Talking To Myself", and the chorus singing "Don't Let This Waltz Mean Goodbye".
See photos for a closer look at the disc. It is in nice condition with light ordinary wear (meaning some light surface noise, etc ~ all to be expected from an 85-year old record).
