Description

"LET'S TALK ABOUT US (written by Otis Blackwell) / DRAW" DOUBLE SIDED 10" WHITE LABEL US ACETATE from Roosevelt Music

Handwritten 'Roosevelt Music' on the label Good condition and still has very good audio playback.
Below is as much information as we have about this record
*Otis Blackwell was signed to Roosevelt Music as a songwriter and the acetate we are offering (circa 1958) is the demo acetate Roosevelt Music (or Otis Blackwell*) offered to Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis.   One of the two songs on this acetate  is "Let's Talk About Us"  which was picked up by Jerry Lee Lewis and Sun Records and went on to be a successful single (as was Otis's "Great Balls of Fire").   The demo is superb and slick and the boogie style piano accompaniment  certainly had Mr. Lewis in mind but there is a far more close relationship to Elvis and The Jordanaires.  We can't say for sure this is Otis on the demo fronting a close harmony session combo but it is truly great with some strong backing and guitar fills/break. (*Otis Blackwell was a prolific black American songwriter.  However he had significantly more success at having his songs recorded by predominantly white artists, Elvis and Jerry Lee to name but two). The other side titled "Draw" is a pastiche of R&B/pop releases like Western Movies of the time.  references to Ding Don Dooley & Dungaree Dan.   Although we can't confirm this is an Otis Blackwell song it certainly could be.  Otis was a big country fan and Tex Ritter remained his favourite singer until the end. This is a superb coupling of two songs, excellently demo'd.
