Description
"WHOLE LOTTA ROOM" + 2 lyric sheets
RARE 10" SHELLAC ONE SIDED ACETATE 78 rpm
Words and music by Doc Pomus and Mort Shuman
Circa 1957/8 published by Hill and Range
Good condition, audibly sound, some surface noise but doesn't affect playability. Bear in mind this acetate is 60+ years old.
Doc Pomus is heard singing and playing the piano.
Originally this acetate was sent to Cliff Richard's producer (Norrie Paramor) with a view to getting Cliff to record this (he didn't).
Recorded at Associated Recording Studios in New York. Comes with 2 manuscript sheets with lyrics. Doc Pomus (with Mort Shuman) went on to become one of the top writers of popular r'n'r and r'n'b music during the late 50's and on into the 70's. The song is typical of its time and can be loosely compared to Marvin Rainwater's "Whole Lotta Woman". Acetate comes in its original sleeve with some handwriting - see picture. WE CAN FIND NO DETAILS OF A COMMERCIAL RELEASE OF THIS TITLE. (If anyone knows otherwise please let us know)
