Description
ULTRA RARE RECORDING BY "AMERICAN INDIAN SOUNDCHIEFS" PRESSED IN THE 1940s OF AUTHENTIC AMERICAN INDIAN TRIBE MUSIC. On American Indian Soundchiefs from the internet:
"American Indian Soundchiefs was founded in the 1940s by the late Rev. Linn D. Pauahty, a Kiowa Indian Methodist minister from Carnegie, Oklahoma. Raised in a traditional Kiowa home, Rev. Pauahty had a keen ear for good Indian music, and throughout his extensive recording career sought out the best singers from throughout the Southern and Northern Plains. By the mid-1950s, he had the largest collection of Plains Indian music in the country... Many Soundchiefs recordings are now considered 'classics' by Indian record collectors."
This record is CHYNE - 105, featuring The Tall Bird Family of the Cheyenne Tribe. Side A is Cheyenne Medicineshield, Side B is, A Cheyenne Warrior. Found in a plain brown sleeve (replaced with a more sturdy and thicker modern sleeve), the surface is PRISTINE with no scratches seen either side, will grade NM. It actually looks more like vinyl than shellac - it may be - but all their recordings were purported to be 78 RPM.
