Description

Item Description A business card from the Pickwick Club, London that has been autographed on the reverse by John Lennon in blue ballpoint pen. The signature dates to circa 1963/1964. The autograph comes with a letter from the previous owner that reads as follows: ‘These autographs have been in my wife’s possession for the last 53 years when they were given to her by her father who, back in the sixties worked in various London clubs and hotels as a wine butler. One of the places he worked was the Pickwick Club in Great Newport Street which in July 1963 opened as a club for professionals in film, music, theatre etc. And a place frequented by The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and so on. Apparently one night when my father-in-law was on duty Mick Jagger, George Harrison and John Lennon came in together, so while my father-in-law was serving them he asked for their autographs for his teenaged daughter which they signed on the Pickwick club cards and gave to him’.

The card measures 11cm x 5cm (4.4 inches x 2 inches). The condition is excellent.
