Why Bowie rocks! …..

David Bowie, who started out as Davy Jones, has had numerous band back ups, including the King Bees, the Konrads, the Manish Boys, the Lower Third and the Spiders from Mars. He has had an amazing music career spanning over 4 decades. In that time he was signed up with various record labels, including Deram, EMI, RCA, Decca, Mercury, Vocalion Pop, Pye, Ryko, Philips, Warner Bros, MainMan and Parlophone. He has released music in numerous countries besides the UK, including Japan, Greece, Thailand, Mexico, Yugoslavia, Spain, New Zealand and of course Australia.

Bowie worked with such illustrious others as Mick Ronson (what a guitarist!), Iggy Pop, T-Rex, Marc Bolan, Freddie Mercury / Queen and Dana Gillespie.

Marshall Jarman wrote Bowie’s fantastic discography – worth a read!

Bowie is famous for such songs and albums as Space Oddity, Liza Jane, Laughing Gnome, All the Madmen, Holy Holy, Prettiest Star, I Dig Everything, Cant Help Thinking About Me, Do Anything You Say, Spiders From Mars, Heroes, Pinups, Low, Glass Spider, Sound and Vision, Starman, Rebel Rebel, Sorrow, Time, Let’s Dance, Memory of a Free Festival, Moonage Daydream, Diamond Dogs, Station to Station, Man Who Sold the World, Love You Til Tuesday, Hunky Dory . . . . so prolific!

He has been Arnold Corns, the Thin White Duke, Ziggy

Stardust, Tin Machine. . .

Bowie has often been the first to trial new technologies, such as CDs, VHS, DVD. MP3, MP4 – he encourages people to download his music and cover it. He has pioneered the picture disc, demo, promo (promotional record) and has released countless limited editions in vinyl, book, poster, cassette, 8 track and CD formats and other ultra rare collectibles like AU20. Some of his stuff was so controversial it was pulled as soon as it was released, like the Diamond Dogs album cover with genitals, and the drag cover which is a little easier to find. Sometimes such rarities are easier to find as a bootleg, but is just not the same!

Keep an eye out in my listings for more promos, acetates, picture sleeves, advance copies, test pressing, sheet music, white label, and lots of other ultra and mega rare collectibles!

Please note that I am not a dealer nor a shop. I am a collector, finally having the opportunity to tidy my collection.
