Description
This is a fabulous record, one of my favorite pieces that I never tire of listening to and this is a typical lyrical performance from Yehudi Menuhin with the old master Furtwangler conducting the Philharmonia Orchestra and including the cadenzas by Fritz Kreisler.
This was recorded in London in 1953; however this is a later release on Angel EMI, WF 60015, manufactured in Japan in 1972 I believe, as part of a series of releases honoring Furtwangler, rather than Menuhin.
As a more recent pressing, there's the huge advantage of a wonderful silky sound and this record would be as close to perfection as it gets apart from two areas right at the end of side one, where there is a light repeating click, for two or three rotations. This would be NM apart from this, so I'm rating it as EX.
This is extremely rare, as a Japanese import. This may be the first copy offered for sale online. Because of the issue noted, I'm going to price it realistically. I'm a listener rather than a collector and I believe this is of more importance for a collector than me - I have many other recordings of this.
