Description

redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:

This handsome LP – a still-sealed copy – from Fonit Cetra (FE 3, Italian pressing, white label, mono) features Volume 3 in the label’s historic Furtwangler Edition, this installment devoted to a justly famous performance of Brahms’s Violin Concerto in D Major Op. 77, with no less than Gioconda de Vito the distinguished soloist.

Broadcast “live” from Turin’s Sala del Conservatorio on 7 March 1952 with the Orchestra di Sinfonica di Torino della RAI, de Vito plays with soaring lyricism, Furtwangler providing truly leonine accompaniment and the whole imbued with a tremendous sense of occasion.

This is exalted playing by any measure and all those who treasure the art of the violin will find much to admire here.

Fonit Cetra’s pressings and transfers are immaculately done and there is no finer LP edition of this legendary performance.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. Although this is a genuinely still-sealed copy, there is nonetheless some minor bumping at corners and a small tear to the cellophane on the rear panel. However, there are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a very fine collector's copy.

The condition of the LP is MINT. This is a still-sealed, unplayed copy – the ideal collector's copy.
