Description

Early 60's Mono Deep Groove Riverside pressing of the wonderful Wes Montgomery's second album as a bandleader. Based on the production credit including 'Inc.' and the dead wax runouts, this appears to be a 2nd pressing circa 1962 (first pressings in 1960 did not include 'Inc.' in the production credits). From my personal collection.


LP has been recleaned and fully play-tested (Thorens TD-160 table with an Ortophon stylus). There are numerous visual marks/imperfections, some of which I tried to photograph. None are overly deep or feelable and the record plays through enjoyably and without any skipping. There is background noise throughout, most notably in quieter sections, as well as some instances of ticking or popping. Nothing that takes away too much from the music, but in trying to be as transparent as possible they so exist. In my honest assessment and because of the style of music, I grade playback as not quite on par with a standard 'V.G.' record and arrive at an honest G+ grading.


The cover has held up remarkably well for it's age with no notable wear, only slight rippling to the paste-on backing, and only one small stain on the back cover. As per usual with early 60s one-piece covers, the seams have some wear and splitting. The top seam and half of the spine have been taped over cleanly (done by myself years ago to prevent further splitting). Again, I have tried to photograph all of this. That all said, a solid V.G. cover due to the seam wear.
