Description
The Velvet Underground & Nico "Self-Titled" 1967, Verve V6/5008 gatefold stereo LP, this is the very 1st pressing, with a rare untouched, unpeeled banana on front (famously designed by Andy Warhol), this banana has not been lifted in any way; the solid EXC cover is straight and square, having no seam splits anywhere, it would grade NM if not for typical age-wear and handling around the edges, and being over 50 years old (please see all photos with magnification). Of special note, this cover is the very 1st "torso" version, where on the back you can see the upside down torso image of Eric Emerson (american musician, actor, and dancer), who threatened to sue. MGM decided to recall these 1st covers, and until the image could be airbrushed out (3rd version), they put a black sticker over it (2nd version); the vinyl is a remarkable glossy NM on both sides, also comes with the NM original Verve custom inner sleeve. Finding a clean, original 1967 1st version "torso" cover, with no seam splits, and an untouched banana on front, is next to impossible (these don't come up very often), this one is a keeper.
