Description

Genuine, original,1977, immaculate, 7" vinyl EP version of 'An Ideal For Living' by Joy Division
(This record hardly ever goes on sale due to its rarity and immense value.)
This must be one of, if not THE, best example of this extremely rare record in existence.
Any serious Joy Division collector will realise this is a truly unique opportunity to purchase THE most valuable and sought after Joy Division record ever put on vinyl!
For those not in the know - what proves this is a genuine, very rare, original version of this record are the serrated markings and the different contours of the label.  The alternative fake 'original' version of the record doesn't have these markings, which is how you can tell them apart.  The last picture shows these markings on the actual record. Details:

  • COVER - the folded paper cover is in pristine condition
  • INNER - the original white paper inner with squared corners, is also in pristine condition
  • VINYL - black vinyl, bright and shiny, no marks, and plays as new with no surface noise
  • LABELS - original paper labels, both sides black in perfect condition

This is the first of a handful of very rare Joy Division records that I am thinking of selling soon.
The others being considered for sale include:
  • one of the 1,578 original limited releases of 'SORDIDE Sentimental' in its (very rare) original sleeve with the English translation sheet and in the (even rarer) original Sordide Sentimental marketing plastic bag
  • the original 12" version of 'An ideal For Living'
  • several test pressings and picture discs

I will be happy to answer any queries you may have.  If you'd like to ask anything or discuss further send a message or call me on 07973 825504.
However please don't send me a silly low offer!  I know the value true of this record, as will any serious collector, and so I will not entertain selling it for anything less that it's true market value. (I am however happy to discuss genuine offers in that region.)
There is a high reserve price of around the market value, so the auction can run its course to give all serious collectors the same opportunity to bid whatever value it is to them!
Will sell anywhere in the world if the buyer is happy to pay the postage at cost and of course will be responsible for any import tax, if applicable.
PAYMENT: If collecting in person - cash on collection or instant bank transfer.
If posting - much prefer bank transfer.
As the value is so high, I will accept a paypal payment if the buyer agrees to pay the paypal selling fees (UK buyers 3.4% + 20p, International - 3.4% plus a currency conversion fee).

POSTAGE: Collection in person preferred, but happy to post if required, but I will only send it by Royal Mail, tracked and signed for with high insurance.
If posted, it will be wrapped in multiple layers of bubble wrap and sent in a strong box to provide complete protection.
UK - I would rather it be sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery with the highest level insurance, guaranteed 'Next Day Delivery by 1pm'. This will cost £10.50
International - will be sent the safest way possible, tracked and signed for with guaranteed delivery. NB the price quoted is an estimate to USA, the final actual price will depend on country and level of insurance and will be calculated on sale.
Many thanks for your interest!

I forgot to mention the 3rd proof of authenticity - as well as the serrations and contours to the labels, genuine originals also have numbers stamped into the vinyl by/over the end groove, close to the edge of the label. Of course this record has those distinctive numbers too.
