Description

Surely only a tiny number were pressed of this fascinating album from 1970. Produced by the famous progressive Dartington Hall College, with music by it's Musical Director Tim Moore from a book by David Gribble, this is a musical based on the Faust legend. Think a slightly younger version of "Principal Edwards Magic Theatre"! The Rock Band for the recording includes 18-year old pupil Mark Fry on rhythm guitar & vocals, soon to record the legendary "Dreaming With Alice" acid folk classic album. Art student Mark also designed the album cover. It was as an art student in Rome that he recorded his legendary album

Also included on this fascinating recording are Kit Hain (vocals, bass & percussion) and Julian Marshall on vocals and percussion, who went on to form hit duo Marshall Hain, and jazz drummer Michael Ormerod.

Musically this is typical of it's time rock/pop musical with some psych touches and the highlight of a superb track "The Three Wheels" with music written by Mark Fry's great friend Ben Grove which is an instant psych folk/rock classic and deserves a much greater audience, maybe on a new "Folk is Not a Four-Letter Word" compilation!

On  the tiny UK Axis Records label ATL 121-S from 1970 in stereo. The unlaminated sleeve has early ringwear, so VG+ condition, the record is a smart EX+ with clean labels
