Unused AVENGERS 1979 Vinyl EP

• You are bidding on one unused copy of the eponymous AVENGERS stereo vinyl EP, released in 1979. This is an original release and a CUT-OUT. 12 inch, 45 RPM. Produced by Steve Jones with Rene Daalder and the Avengers, engineered by Geza X Gedeon. All of these songs appear on the Avengers first LP, released in 1983. Duration 12:25.

  The Avengers are a pioneering band in San Francisco's punk scene featuring Penelope Houston on vocals, one of punk's first female frontwomen.

• The LP and jacket is considered USED but is in excellent condition. (See grading legend below). The disc is graded NM and is not warped; there are no marks on either side. We believe the disc may be unplayed. The jacket is VG+; there is a small amount of ring wear on the top front and back. There is a Cut-Out slice on the bottom right. The inner sleeve is generic paper and is in good condition. The pictures below are of the actual item.

• Artist Biography by Mark Deming (partical):
  In late 1978, Steve Jones did in fact produce a session for the group, which would yield a four-song EP, but 1979 was not destined to be a good year for the Avengers. Tensions had grown between Greg Ingraham and Penelope Houston, and at the end of 1978, Ingraham quit the group. He was soon replaced by Brad Kent, but the band's foundation began to crumble, and in late June, after a pair of sold-out farewell shows, the Avengers called it a day. The Jones-produced EP came out later that summer. After the band's breakup, Houston went on to a career as an acoustic-oriented singer/songwriter, and Jimmy Wisley became a longtime member of Chris Isaak's backing group.

• To protect this collectible recording, this auction also includes the packaging necessary to ship a vinyl record. Included is a new cardboard container specifically designed for vinyl records. The record will be shipped in a new paper sleeve. The empty jacket will be shipped in a new plastic sleeve.

• M = Mint. In all but the rarest cases, still sealed. If we know that an open record has never been played, and the rating otherwise applies, it will be graded mint.
  
• NM = Near mint, or unplayed condition. Cover is near perfect, new looking, with no surface or ring wear.
  
• EX = Only slight signs of wear; very clean, only light surface marks which do not distract significantly from the sound. Cover has only slight surface wear and is still in nice collectible condition.
  
• VG+ = Evidence of play, with moderate surface wear and some minor noise - still plays well. Cover is solid with no breaks but may have minor surface wear or some ring wear.
  
• VG = Overall wear, but no skips or serious defects. May be somewhat noisy during quiet passages. Cover is worn, with considerable ring wear, and may have partially broken edges.
  
• VG- = Playable, but both the record and cover are well worn.
  
• G or G+ = Poor or Rough condition. Holefiller only!
