The Winds of Alamar (Quadraphonic reel-to-reel tape)

Being offered is the 7" open reel (reel-to-reel, 1/4" tape) album: The Winds of Alamar, by the group Iguana (Don Falk, Arthur Bod, and Budge Witherspoon). Produced in 1975 by Animal Hospital Music Company, Product No. 0007,5A101. Manufactured and distributed by Quadratrak, Inc. Format: 4 track Quadraphonic. (No evidence of Dolby.) Speed: 7-1/2 ips. All original materials: tape, reel, box. (The box is all black except for a spine label - the way the maker produced their tapes.)

Here is a 1970s surround-sound open reel tape, by a contemporary group, which the included descriptor sheet calls "a stunning new achievement of artistic and technical awareness. This achievement places Iguana ahead of their time and the current state of the art of four-channel music." (Quadratrak is/was a four-channel tape label owned and operated by Don Falk and Arthur Bod.) The blue insert is a summary of the program, including who played what instrument(s).

This album is very rare in open reel form, and essentially impossible to find as a quadraphonic recording.

Note that quadraphonic tapes are unidirectionally played, where the four-channel program occupies all four tracks, and the convention is that the tape is first rewound and then played back to the beginning point (so that the tape ends up being wound for storage in least-stressed state). This is sometimes referred to as "tails out".

Condition:Used, but very well cared for, so in excellent physical condition. Indeed: in almost "new" condition. There are signs of paper aging, but that's it. Purchased new by me: played only on a high-end tape deck. Stored in dry, climate-controlled conditions. I no longer have an open reel deck, so cannot test this tape, so has to be offered as-is; but I can say that it was just fine when I played it years ago. From a smoke-free, pet-free, child-free home.

Shipping:

I ship to the US only, via the United States Postal Service (The Post Office). I do not ship outside the United States - no exceptions. (Do not waste my time and yours by asking for an exemption.)
Keep in mind that shipping rates have generally escalated due to increases in fuel costs.
Books, sound recordings, and video tape will be sent via USPS media rate. Other goods are shipped via USPS Parcel Post. Choosing less costly shipping methods makes for lower costs for you and makes the acquisition of eBay goods more realistic. Please allow a reasonable amount of time for delivery: in particular, note the eBay annotation for expected delivery times for shipping methods. Shipments which have to travel the full width of the country will necessarily take maximal time, as compared with shipments to an adjoining New England state. USPS has been 100% reliable, so delivery should be certain. Goods will ship the next non-holiday weekday after payment is received.
Goods will be packed to avoid damage in shipment, to the extent reasonable. As a buyer, I would want my goods to arrive in good order, and so I do what I can for you as the buyer to have everything arrive in its condition at ship time.
