"Sheila Take a Bow "
Original genuine 1980's Promo Poster For The U.K Issue RT 196
Poster were distributed by Capital Print who were Rough Trades Official distributors of these fantastic and iconic and collectable posters.
"Sheila Take a Bow" is a song by The Smiths. It was released as a single in April 1987, reaching #10 in the UK Singles Chart, and as history now tells us their highest chart placing in their career.
Printed on Matt Paper stock this poster measures 60" by 40" and shows this iconic sleeve which features Candy Darling from Andy Warhol's film WOMEN IN REVOLT [1971] (pink). Candy Darling is actually a drag queen named James Lawrence Slattery. He died at the age of 25 in May 1974 of leukaemia.
These posters were never available to the public they were sent out by the record companies and used by record shops or posted up around the town or cities.
The condition of the Poster is excellent with no fold in the middle,as can be seen in the pictures a 5 millimetre tear Bottom middle and a slight 2mm tear bottom left corner these can be trimmed off before framing if desired saying that all this doesn't detract this from being a rare poster especially in this condition after 30 years.

It was one of the band's many "between album" singles (the last of four in a row), not having natural home on any of the studio albums. It was, however, featured on the Louder Than Bombs compilation released later in the year. The single's two b-sides, Peel Session versions of "Is It Really So Strange?" and "Sweet And Tender Hooligan" also featured on the lp Louder Than Bombs.
The brass band music at the beginning is sampled from the 1954 movie Hobson's Choice. The single's cover features actress Candy Darling from the film Women in Revolt (1971). Candy Darling was part of Andy Warhol's entourage.
