Description

One of the RAREST of all the Beatles LPs, this is the STEREO "Portrait cover" Album. The Beatles on Stage with Frank Ifield. Cover is a bit worn, but the record appears to be virtually unplayed. I can NOT see any evidence that it has been played. Sorry for the photos of the vinyl where you can see the lines of my photo studio reflecting on the album, it's hard to get a good shot of it, but the vinyl is exceptionally clean. Please use photos to judge condition for yourself. Like I've stated, the cover has some obvious signs of age but the vinyl is in very, very nice shape. Notice the authentic printing on the spine along with the drawn-in "seat" on the cover. Its trail off areas include the following hand etched markings; On side one "64-3852-S"  and the delta symbol (triangle) then "6298" On side two "1-26-64" and "64-3853-S" and the same triangle followed by "6298 X" This is an amazingly rare find and is an absolute must for anyone who collects Beatles LPs. My father purchased this album new and it has been in the family ever since. This Album will be sent insured, direct signature required in an over-packed box. I am located in the Portland, Oregon area. I will meet you anywhere locally if you would like to examine this record in person. From the internet; THE RAREST OF THE VEE-JAY BEATLES ALBUMS IS THE SECOND AND VERY LIMITED STEREO PRESSING OF "THE BEATLES & FRANK IFIELD ON STAGE", KNOWN AMONG THE COLLECTORS WORLD AS THE "PORTRAIT COVER". BECAUSE OF POOR SALES ON THE ORIGINAL RELEASE "JOLLY WHAT !", THE SOLUTION WAS TO REPACKAGE THE ALBUM IN SUCH A WAY AS TO FOCUS ON THE ALBUM'S STRENGTHS AND DOWNPLAY ITS WEAKNESSES. THE REISSUE COVER FEATURES THE STRIKING PORTRAIT OF THE BEATLES PREVIOUSLY USED ON THE VEE-JAY 45 SINGLE "LOVE ME DO" PICTURE SLEEVE. THE BEATLES SONGS ARE PROMINENTLY LISTED ON THE COVER. THERE ARE BOTH MONO AND STEREO VERSIONS OF THIS COVER, WHICH AGAIN, IS KNOWN AMONG COLLECTORS AS THE "PORTRAIT COVER". BOTH ISSUES USE THE SAME LINER NOTES SLICK FROM THE FIRST ISSUE OF "JOLLY WHAT !". UNFORTUNATELY, NO DOCUMENTS REGARDING THE PORTRAIT COVER HAVE SURFACED. WHAT IS KNOWN IS THAT THIS ALBUM IS EXTREMELY RARE. IN ALL LIKELIHOOD, ONLY A FEW THOUSAND MONO AND A FEW HUNDRED STEREO COPIES WERE SOLD. THIS STEREO VERSION OF THIS ALBUM IS ONE OF THE RAREST AND MOST COLLECTIBLE OF ALL BEATLES RECORDS. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for looking.
