Description

Complete & original heavyweight vinyl black & gold Parlophone label 1st UK pressing of ‘The Beatles - Please Please Me’ with 2GO/1H mother/stampers, one of the very earliest pressings .  This of course also has all the usual 1st pressing credit errors of the 1st label black & gold Parlophone label That incorrectly credited Dick James for the publishing rights on many tracks before the error was spotted and corrected for the 2nd black & gold press.

The sleeve is also a 1st press ‘Gold’ sleeve printed by Earnest J. Day Co. Ltd, can be identified by the"Photo: Angus McBean" credit alignment on the front bottom right corner, which begins where the "s" of songs end (See Pictures). On the second issue sleeves, the credit was moved further to the left aligning with the “g”.

Serial number: PMC 1202

Matrix number: XEX 421-1N / XEX 422-1N

Stamper codes:  2GO / 1 H

Tax code: MT, side 1

Condition: The record has a real deep-sheen gloss with  light signs of use visible in either good natural light or under strong direct halogen spotlight..a few light hairlines / very light scratches which I have tried to highlight in pictures...obviously this is not a mint copy and does have signs of use. It visually grades VG+ There is no warping to the disc. The playback is equally as good as the visual, if not better. A great start with a very quiet run-in to side 1, track 1 without crackle, hiss or issue.  The great condition continues throughout the whole LP. Lead-ins to both are nice and quiet and each track plays without issue, there are no overpowering pops, no hiss, and clearly no skips/sticks with this grade, nice and quiet between tracks, with the occasional minor crackle/pop between tracks. The cover has some wear...front is glossy clean front without ring wear or stains. The spine is sharp, clean and fully-readable and without wear. The corners show some wear, main issue is opening edge which does show heavy wear and a small split (again I have tried to highlight this in the pictures, the wear on this edge is also evident on the rear. Rear shows some minor discolouring and some wear to flip backs (again see photos) Complete with its original tracing-paper Emitex inner sleeve which is clean but split on one side and starting to split on other/creasing and some wear. VG
