Description

eBay is chock full of great vinyl but the true collectors rarities shine out like diamonds. This is one of them.

THE SWEET: "Slow Motion/It's Lonely Out There" 1968 UK Fontana 45 TF 958.

A terrifically sought after 60s sound and impossibly rare like this -  in it's original UK stock copy form.

This was their first record and, over the next decade, Sweet's fortunes would sky-rocket and then fall apart. At the time of "Slow Motion" the group were barely scraping a living and featured Frank Torpey prominently on (fuzz) guitar. He would leave soon afterwards. It is at this captured moment Psych collectors believe the band to be at their best, or at least most credible!

It is a terrific sound - especially the whining, wailing Torpey psych-guitar interjections all over that B Side.

Released exactly four decades ago this week(!) it goes without saying that it sank without trace and sold but a handful of copies. Sweet's time would have to wait...

The record is in truly very good/excellent condition with no scratches, digs or heavy marks. There are hairlines around but nothing major whatsoever. The vinyl shines and the tunes still scream out of these grooves. The labels are undimmed and clear although the release date - 9th July 1968 - has been stamped blue-on-blue on the A Side centre. (SEE PIC) The B side also has a feint blue stamp but this is too faded to read. The disc comes in it's original company bag.

This is a terrific copy of an extreme rarity and one that would illuminate even the highest category singles collection.

Good luck everyone and Happy 40th Birthday to the disc!

The starting price is low and there is no reserve.
