A cool and scarce 45 that is a must have for any Monkees collection! This is a hard to find original Canadian issue that was released with the originally intended B side of "She Hangs Out". The Monkees had just had a stand-off with musical director Don Kirshner about their lack of input into the Monkees recordings and releases. Mike Nesmith threatened to quit or punch out Donny unless they got more say into the record side of the project. They were promised that at least one side of every single would be a composition by Mike or one of the group while the other could still be by one of Don's contracted songwriters. "She Hangs Out" was written by Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich-great writers yes...but not one of the Monkees, and the A side was an early Neil Diamond song. This record was scheduled for release worldwide but was cancelled and the B side changed to a Mike Nesmith composition "The Girl I Knew Somewhere". It was only released with "She Hangs Out" on the flip side in Canada on RCA Victor and only for a very short time until being replaced by the more common coupling. This is one of those super rare Canadian first pressings! I will also include a VG+ copy of the original second issue with the familiar B side to the lucky winner of this auction! This is a super rare item and it would be a great addition to any serious 45 collection. Good luck!

RCA Victor Records 66-1003  Original Canadian mono 1st issue 45

RECORD: VG with light sleeve scuffing, minor light scratching and handling wear. Still plays and sounds great with a bit of background noise at the beginning of each side. Comes with a generic sleeve.

LABELS: VG with storage and age wear. There is some visible wear along the center hole on the "She Hangs Out" side. No writing, markings or stickers. Not the clearest scan for some reason-the label is not actually blurry at all!

Overall, this is a very playable copy of this hard to find Canadian rarity that needs a loving home in your Monkees collection!

Please email me with any questions before you bid. If you have any concerns about this item, please DON'T bid unless you are absolutely sure!
