Description

THE DICK MORRISSEY QUARTET - STORM WARNING!

1967 UK ORIGINAL MONO FIRST PRESSING - on the MERCURY label, 20077 MCL

MATRICES  Side 1 - 131203 1L//1 420; Side 2 : 131203 2L//1 420

The Vinyl is in excellent+ condition (I am so tempted to grade as "near mint"). Both sides of the vinyl gleam. Completely flat, thick, perfect edges and a wonderful sheen. Virtually unmarked apart from

just a couple of very, very light wispy hairlines and barely detectable small paper scuffs (even under a bright light these are hard to detect). Wonderful! This record has obviously not been played

many times.

Labels are perfect with no marks at all on on either side - not even the usual faint spindle traces. Brilliant!

Near perfect audio with no jumps or distortion, no clicking, no background interference. There are a couple of nano seconds of static and perhaps just the merest hint of

some very light background crackle towards the beginning of side 2 and during the interludes but it's negligible. Simply stunning audio quality with all the detail you would expect on a high quality late

60's heavy duty Mercury piece of vinyl - such detail is simply lost during the re-mastering and compression process for digitisation into CD format. Mono at it's best and surely hard to beat.

The front side laminated outer sleeve is not quite up to the same wonderful condition as the vinyl. Unfortunately a previous owner sellotaped the border of the sleeve

to protect from rubbing and/or scuffing. The sellotape has since been removed but has resulted in some mild residue marking around the bordering the edges. On the front side

this is only really noticeable towards the bottom edge where there is also a "nick" just beneath the Mercury logo (see photo). The residue marking bordering the other edges is very mild

and you have to tilt the cover at the right angle, and in the right light to notice it. The edges are all perfectly straight, rigid, with no scuffing or rubbing at all. Similarly, each corner remains

a perfectly formed right angle with no rubbing whatsoever. Wonderful! The reverse side is in great shape with no unwanted doodles or nasty blemishes. I actually can't make out

whether the different colour margin is due to the aforementioned sellotape removal or is part of the manufacturing process - make up your own mind! Either way the reverse side of the sleeve

is in excellent condition.

The artists on this album are Dick Morrissey (tenor sax), Harry South (piano), Phil Bates (bass), and Phil Seaman (drums) - each one on top of their game -

listen to these tracks in glorious perfect mono and you'll see why this is such a sought after record.  Just listen to Dick Morrissey's tenor sax playing on "March On"

 - outrageous! This music simply doesn't age. Superb stuff.

The tracks on this album are :

Side 1:

1. Storm Warning

2. What Is There To Say

3. Come Rain Or Come Shine

Side 2:

1. Wind Of Change

2. Get out of Town

3. March On

Vinyl will be shipped in a new plain white inner sleeve, with original Mercury inner (excellent condition, by the way - no tears or splits, just some creasing in two of the corners) all contained in a plastic sleeve.

A truly excellent copy of this iconic original, rare and highly sought after UK jazz classic.

IF THIS ITEM INTERESTS YOU THEN YOU MAY LIKE TO TAKE A LOOK AT MY OTHER JAZZ OFFERINGS CURRENTLY ON EBAY : SOME REAL RARITIES!

If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.

A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 45 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. But now I am retired and a combination of space requirements and a need to help fund my retirement has prompted me to "rationalise" my record collection and sell many of my much loved gems.

My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller, and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take care in removing the record from the outer sleeve and properly protecting it in a separate white inner sleeve in order to prevent outer sleeve damage in transit, and for items that sell for over £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon postal insurance so please wait for an invoice before paying. I do discount P&P for multiple purchases. I do NOT profiteer from postage costs. I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. P&P costs for this record are UK £6, continental Europe £9, and Rest of the World £12 : that is for Royal Mail 1st class, "tracked and signed for".  Richard
