Description

Up for auction is a superb copy of of the utlra-rare Sonny Rollins album "Sonny Rollins Plus 4" released on Prestige Records (PRLP 7038) in 1956.  Captures an historic session in that it was that last full recording that included Clifford Brown and Richie Powell who both died in a car accident three months later.  This is a guaranteed, original mono, deep groove, first pressing with RVG in the run-out.  No title printing on spine, which is an indication of the earlier Prestige album covers.  Comes with the original onion paper factory inner sleeve.  And this is an amazing copy of this album, one of the cleanest copies that is out there.  The front cover still retains its original high gloss laminate shine, no ring wear or dulling loss through rubbing.  The lamination is completely intact, no bubbling or lifting.  No tears or cuts, no chips.  Corners are sharp, no bumping.  Lower right corner has the tiniest of creases and rub, but hard to see.  Seams are strong, intact, no splits, no cracking, no flaking.  Back is clean, no writing, bone white, with only a hint a aging along left opening. along with a couple spots and one darker rubbing spot.  See photo for details.  Other than that, the cover is a real beauty that would be very difficult to improve upon.  I'd grade the cover Near Mint Minus-, though most would readily call it Near Mint. The vinyl is immaculate, un-marked, looks un-played.  No scratches, no scuffs, no adhesions, or extraneous blemishes of any kind that I can see under strong light.  No pressing defects.  Labels are super clean, no marks around spindle holes, indicating little, if any, previous play or handling.  Disc surfaces retain all of their original factory shine and luster.  It's always exciting to see such a rare record in such pristine condition, and this is no exception.  I'd grade the vinyl Near Mint Plus (NM+).  It doesn't get any better than this.  An upgrade from here is really not very possible. 100% guaranteed satisfaction, risk-free buying, or your money back, no questions asked.
